Mockingbird Don't Sing is a 2001 American independent film based on the true story of Genie, a modern-day feral child. The film is told from the point of view of Susan Curtiss (whose fictitious name is Sandra Tannen), a professor of linguistics at University of California, Los Angeles. Although the film is based on a true story, all of the names are fictitious for legal reasons (e.g. the pseudonym "Genie" has been changed to "Katie"). The film was released to US theaters on May 4, 2001. It won first prize for best screenplay at the Rhode Island International Film Festival (tied with Wings of Hope).
The film follows the life of Katie Standon, a girl who has been imprisoned in her room (and without any human contact) since the age of one, until she is discovered at the age of thirteen by a social worker. Katie is taken to a children's hospital, where she is studied and educated by a team of specialists, who have different motives and agendas regarding her case. One of them is Judy Bingham, a special education teacher who sees Katie as a pawn whom she can use to attain international fame. Another one is Sandra Tannen, a graduate student who genuinely cares for Katie and tries to help her overcome her trauma and learn to communicate. The film also depicts the relationship between Katie and her abusive father, Wes, who commits suicide after being arrested, and her mother, Louise, who is partially blind and eventually regains custody of Katie after she turns eighteen.

The film stars Tarra Steele as Katie, Melissa Errico as Sandra Tannen, Sean Young as Judy Bingham, Kim Darby as Louise Standon, and Michael Lerner as Dr. Norman Glazer. The film was directed by Harry Bromley Davenport and written by Daryl Haney. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances of the cast, especially Steele and Errico, but criticized the script and direction for being melodramatic and sensationalistic. The film also sparked controversy for its portrayal of the real-life events and people involved in Genie's case, which some considered inaccurate and exploitative.
The film was released on DVD in 2002 by Mainline Releasing, with the title Mockingbird Don't Sing 2001 DVDRip Xvid AC3 5.1 Eng BlueLady avi. The DVD features the original theatrical trailer, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and interviews with the cast and crew.
