Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters PC Game Review

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is an action video game based on the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern. The game is a tie-in/sequel to the 2011 film Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps. The game features 3D visuals on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, providing TriOviz Inficolor 3D for standard televisions and stereoscopic 3D for dedicated 3DTVs. The game also has versions for the Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS, with different gameplay and graphics. The game was developed by Double Helix Games and Griptonite Games, and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in June 2011.

The game follows the story of Hal Jordan as he fights against the Manhunters, an android race that was once created by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as the first interstellar police force. The Manhunters became corrupted and obsessed with administering punishment rather than serving justice, forcing the Guardians to dissolve their ranks and create a new elite police force called the Green Lantern Corps, armed with specially crafted power rings that can create anything the wearer imagines. The Manhunters are now back and out for revenge, readying their forces for a war against the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan must team up with his fellow Green Lanterns, such as Sinestro and Kilowog, to stop the Manhunters and protect peace and justice in the galaxy.

The game offers three different game modes: Story Mode, Arena Mode, and Ring Battle Mode. In Story Mode, the player controls Hal Jordan and uses his power ring to create various weapons and objects to defeat enemies and progress through levels. The player can also switch to Sinestro in some levels, or play cooperatively with another player in local multiplayer. The game features a mix of on-foot beat 'em up battles and flying rail shooter sequences. The player can also upgrade Hal's ring abilities by collecting green orbs from defeated enemies or hidden locations. In Arena Mode, the player can fight against waves of enemies in different locations, either alone or with another player. In Ring Battle Mode, the player can compete against another player in a one-on-one duel using ring constructs.

The game received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the game's voice acting, music, and 3D effects, but criticized the game's repetitive gameplay, bland graphics, and lack of online multiplayer. The game has a Metacritic score of 59/100 for the PlayStation 3 version, 58/100 for the Xbox 360 version, 50/100 for the Wii version, and 46/100 for the Nintendo DS version. The Nintendo 3DS version was not reviewed by Metacritic.
